Adaptive Mobility Invited to Speak to Physicians

Adaptive Mobility Invited to Speak to Physicians

Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist

Friday, January 17, 2020

Adaptive Mobility Services is invited to present to the physician group of UPMC! The presentation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020. The presentation, titled, Driver Assessment, will explore occupational therapy’s specialty role with driver rehabilitation. We are excited to partner with Genesis Rehab Service for this presentation.

Healthcare practitioners plan a critical role in supporting the health and functioning of their patients. Occupational therapy practitioners support this process by providing interventions that help to recover and regain independence. Typically, OTs provide therapy for dressing, bathing, cooking, & home safety. However, OTs are also skilled at helping to determine driving safety risk.

Join two occupational therapy practitioners, with advanced training in the field of driver rehabilitation, to learn more! Explore the driver evaluation process, patients that may benefit from driving rehab, and referral process. Bring your questions and receive support to help patients maximize driving safety!

Objectives for the presentation include:

  1. Identify the 3 steps of the comprehensive driver evaluation
  2. Explore the referral process from physician to OT driver rehabilitation specialist
  3. Identify medical diagnostic groups who may benefit from engagement in driver rehabilitation

Physicians are encouraged to attend and bring any questions they may have regarding driving.
