OUR HISTORY
Susan Pierce
Adaptive Mobility Services, Inc. was founded by Susan Pierce in 1990. After working as an occupational therapy driver rehabilitation therapist for a decade, and developing three driving programs, Pierce was encouraged by her father, Brooke Pierce, to follow her passion and start a community-based private practice in Florida.Over the years, Susan has:
- Provided exceptional client services
- Authored numerous chapters and articles
- Participated in research
- Made significant contributions to the practice of occupational therapy and driving rehabilitation
- Forged best practices, and
- Developed the original educational workshops for therapists looking to become driver rehabilitation specialists.
Pierce’s groundbreaking educational workshops – Building & Blocks & Take the Wheel – are known for a blend of classroom instruction and unique hands-on learning. This formula has lead to the education of many therapists across the United States and in other countries.

In 2012, Pierce invited Touchinsky to present as a guest lecture for the Building & Blocks & Take the Wheel series. Touchinsky continued to support Pierce for these courses thru Pierce’s retirement at the end of 2016.
In 2017, through collaboration with Pierce, Touchinsky began working on updates for Building & Blocks & Take the Wheel. Now in 2018, with support from Pierce, Touchinsky has started her own private practice by opening Adaptive Mobility Services, LLC. to continue Susan’s legacy of exceptional client services and therapist education.
