ADED’s 48th Annual Conference Recap

Adaptive Mobility had the pleasure of participating in the 48th annual ADED Conference! This year’s conference took place in Kansas City, Missouri, from October 4 to 8.

This event is a highlight for us and many other driver rehabilitation specialists. Being able to listen to experts to share information, experiences, and the most recent breakthroughs in the industry is so vital. The conference was full of inspiring moments and a distinct experience of community among driver rehabilitation specialists. Each person we met and spoke with showed their love for driver rehabilitation.

Embracing the Future: Exploring Technology

One of the highlights for Adaptive Mobility was co-leading the pre-conference workshop “Embracing the Future: Exploring Technology Applications for Driver Rehabilitation.” We collaborated with Kate Lopez, OTR/L, CDRS, to lead an engaging 7-hour workshop that provided specialists with the skills and insights they required to manage the fast changing field of automotive technology.

The Exploring Technology Course looked at:

  • Current vehicle technologies
  • Pros and cons of advancing technology
  • Opportunities and challenges that impact the driver rehab specialist
  • Ethical considerations
  • Regulatory frameworks
  • Infrastructure requirements
  • Public acceptance
  • Broader societal implications

Katie and Susie used case studies and activities to build an understanding of the intersection between innovation and societal integration plus provide insights to help participants navigate the evolving landscape of automotive technology.
