Equipping a Tesla with Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II Hand Controls

At Adaptive Mobility Services, we care about educating OT driver rehab specialists, and assisting people in achieving safe and independent driving. Because of this we are excited to share our experience equipping a Tesla with Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II hand controls. These upgrades effortlessly integrate functionality with Tesla’s design. We now have a car that is more accessible, efficient, and provides a comfortable driving experience.

Who Can Benefit From Veigel Hand Controls?

Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II are intended for those who have physical limitations that prevent them from using regular foot pedals. These hand controls are especially useful for individuals with:

  • Lower limb movement restrictions.
  • Neurological problems that impact leg strength or control.
  • Spinal cord injury, arthritis, and amputation are all possible conditions.

What Are The Veigel Compact II and Classic II?

Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II are cutting-edge hand controls developed for drivers who want alternatives to standard foot pedals. These controls enable drivers to manage the accelerator and stop with their hands, resulting in a safer and more ergonomic driving experience.

The Veigel Compact II and Classic II hand controls are at the forefront of adaptive driving technological innovation. This adaptive driving equipment offers a unique safety, simplicity, and utility combination. Whether you’re looking for adaptable solutions for yourself or a loved one, these hand controls provide an effective solution.

This lightweight and compact device has a simple push-to-brake and pull-to-accelerate action.

Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II Features

Here’s a full breakdown of the features, installation, and why the combination of Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II is ideal for adaptive drivers:

1. Quality Design For Installation

The first thing we noticed about the adjustments was how well the Veigel Classic II hand control is mounted. The Tesla’s original design is still intact with the bracket attachment setup.

The Classic II attaches to the seat frame with a specific aluminum bracket. This means we do not have to drill holes in the floor or side panels.

2. Full Steering Wheel & Seat Adjustability Maintained

The steering wheel and driver’s seat maintain their complete range of motion. For example, the steering wheel may still fully extend and retract, and the seat travels freely forward and backward.

Also, the brackets for the hand control rods are positioned far behind the pedals. This smart positioning guarantees that they do not interfere with drivers that will not be using the vehicle mobility equipment.

3. Compact II Storage and Usability

Tesla has always been designed with roomy and convenient storage options. This is a huge factor for OT driving experts, who often carry evaluation and training equipment.

When not in use, the Compact II hand control fits comfortably in the Tesla’s rear compartment. It’s as if Tesla anticipated adaptive drivers’ demands with this ingenious built room.

The Compact II’s intuitive design allows for simple operation (push to brake and pull to accelerate). Simply press forward to apply the brake and pull back to accelerate.

4. Tesla & Veigel’s Compact II Brake Features

The Veigel Compact II combined with Tesla allows for amazing brake features to make adaptive driving more convenient.
The brake features are:

Temporary Brake Hold Feature

Holding the brake button and pressing the hand control forward keeps the brake pedal pressed. This is especially useful when shifting from park into drive. Fun fact: did you know that in a Tesla, the only time you must depress the brake to shift is when shifting out of park?

Integration with Tesla’s Regenerative Braking

Tesla’s regenerative braking technology improves the driving experience by enabling you to operate the vehicle almost exclusively using the accelerator. The Compact II complements this technology, and the combination of the two results in precise control and a smooth driving experience.

5. The Classic II is Durable & Ergonomic

The Classic II hand control is another notable feature on my Tesla. Its sturdy construction and ergonomic shape make it a dependable option for adaptive driving.

6. Intuitive Driving with Veigel’s Compact II

The Compact II hand control provides an intuitive solution to adaptive driving. It’s lightweight, simple to install, and ideal for Tesla’s unique driving characteristics.

Like the Compact II, the Classic II has a simple push-to-brake and pull-to-accelerate action.
The Classic II offers versatile control and stability for safe and enjoyable driving, whether on city streets or highways.

Empowering Drivers with Adaptive Solutions

Outfitting a Tesla with Veigel’s Compact II and Classic II hand controls does more than simply make driving more accessible; it also improves the driving experience for everyone. Whether you’re an adaptive driver or a driving professional seeking for new solutions, this combo exemplifies how technology and design can collaborate to foster freedom.
