Full Transparency: Our Driver Rehabilitation Specialist Training is the Best
It is a well-known observation that occupational therapists (OTs) are smart and discerning professionals. They want clear facts before they decide to invest time and money into developing a new skill through OT continuing education.
OTs deserve clarity and transparency when choosing AOTA-approved OT continuing education courses. The path to driver rehabilitation for occupational therapists is a growing field, but getting the right education for it can feel confusing. That’s why Adaptive Mobility is ready to outline exactly what we have to offer for driver rehab specialist training, no surprises! Read more to see what makes us the best provider for OT driver rehab education.
Built by an OT for OTs, Not a One-Size-Fits-All Program
The field of driver rehab can include many professions, but OTs often make a fantastic fit because of their unique experience and outlook. Adaptive Mobility’s occupational therapy driver rehabilitation training builds directly on the assessments OTs already perform that include aspects of cognition, vision, motor coordination, and safety, all core components of OT driving evaluations.
Our program already assumes knowledge of OT clinical reasoning and expands on it with extensions into driver rehab. This is unlike some other programs that have a wider lens, which can be redundant or less detailed for occupational therapists who already have a solid foundation in clinical settings.
A Clear, Structured Path: Exactly What Our Training Covers
Our program meets OTs where they are and supports new career paths. Our goal is to help you become a driver rehab specialist and prepare you for multiple future directions, from certification to private practice and clinical work.
Part 1: Driving Risk Assessment is online and designed for the general occupational therapist and features 25 hours of CE. You can immediately apply skills you learn here in clinical settings, and we’ll help you understand how to best support OT driver risk screening and make informed recommendations for your patients and their families through OT clinical driver evaluation.
Part 2: OT Driver Rehabilitation Specialist Training takes place through 15 hours of online modules and a 3-day in-person experience This is for OTs ready to hop in the vehicle and do in-car driver rehab training. This hands-on driver rehab education gives you a live driving experience and 20 hours in and around a specialized driver rehab vehicle.
Part 3: Build Your Driver Rehab Business is mentorship-focused and designed to help you start a driver rehab business. Driver rehab mentorship with Susie Touchinsky of Adaptive Mobility helps you cover driver rehab with real-world implementation, not just in theory. We want to help you sustain confidence in the role of the driver rehab specialist with advanced OT education.
What “Full Transparency” Really Looks Like
Adaptive Mobility’s goal is to be fully transparent about the entire program process, from the details you need pre-registration all the way to the end of the courses. We want to help you understand whatever it is you need, from the driver rehab certification pathway to DRP microcredential preparation and even CEUs for occupational therapy license renewal and NBCOT professional development requirements.
Our OT-to-DRS courses feature:
- a transparent fee structure (without hidden costs)
- a clear count for CEU (60 AOTA-approved hours)
- the upfront sharing of exact dates and locations
- clear instructor credentials (in-house and owner-led)
- clearly communicated prerequisites
- quality hands-on time in a driver rehab vehicle
- a built-in network with exposure to other OT DRSs
- opportunities to be added to our OT DRS directory to help you build your business
- in-person opportunities with instructors often traveling outside of PA to CO, MT, ID, and DC
- education that qualifies towards DRP microcredential
This on-demand OT training is a great source of online OT continuing education with self-paced OT CEUs and the opportunity for hands-on OT training.
More Than a Course: A Community
Our courses help to foster an occupational therapist professional network, connecting you to other OTs with similar goals and interests in driver rehabilitation education. Graduates become part of an OT driver rehab community where they have access to peer support and the ability to problem solve together.
Our education promotes ongoing learning and is backed by decades of years and experience from our in-house instructor to the other occupational therapists you’ll meet along the way! We’re a top tier source for driver rehab education support and being part of a professional OT network.
